These days a lot of people have recognized the importance of the olive oil as a good food supplement that should be always added to meals. This is because the olive oil especially the Meyer lemon olive oil can boast of a number of health benefits apart from the fact that it is very versatile. It has therefore become a very vital staple food element in the diet of the Mediterranean. A lot of research has been done to prove the health benefits and it was discovered that the Meyer lemon olive oil is very good in preventing heart diseases and also colon cancer. It is because of these benefits that people are beginning to acquaint themselves with how to prepare the Meyer lemon olive oil. It is also to reduce the sot that is associated with buying an expensive one from the grocery store. Furthermore, making your own one will ensure that you fully preserve all the necessary nutritional elements that are found in the oil. This is how it is done in your kitchen. Firstly, you have to place a cup of olive oil into a pot. Thereafter put this pot on a stove but make sure that the level of the stove is beneath the simmer. After this, you have to wash a lemon and then use a small paring knife or a zester to tenderly cut away some of the small slivers of the lemon skin. In doing this there is one important precaution you have to take. Ensure that you do not cut away any part of the white area as this will mean that your Meyer lemon olive oil will become bitter. This is certainly the last thing that you want. Make sure that the pot is still on the stove and then drop the peels of the lemon straight into the pot and then let it simmer for about ten minutes. You have to note that the taste of the lemon will become stronger if you are able to put in a lot more of the peels of lemon. Indeed the standard number of peels of lemon in inches could be about three to four. But if want it to become very strong then you could easily use about six or seven inches of the peels of lemon. The take out the oil from the heat so that it cools down and then store it in a jar. |
